| 10/14/2023 -4/28/2024 | WEEKEND FAMILY PUBLIC ICE SKATING SESSIONS - Rockford Park District's Carlson Ice Arena invites everyone to enjoy an afternoon of indoor ice skating fun with family or friends while gaining the benefits of recreation and exercise at Rockin’ Rocky’s Family Skate sessions on Saturdays and Sundays, September 30, 2023 through April 28, 2024. (Facility is closed March 31, 2024 (Easter); check the calendar at https://rockfordparkdistrict.org/publicskate for current schedule.) Ice skate to music under disco lights, and watch for special appearances by facility mascot Rocky the Bear; food specials will be available at the concession. A special skate and play package is available for $10 per person, and includes public skating admission, skate rental, and for kids age 12 and younger, admission to Sapora Playworld indoor playground. Session times for both days are 1-3 pm. Regular admission fees apply; $6 for skating, and skate rental available for $3. No discount coupons will be accepted for regular admission to these events, or for the package. | 10/14/2023 -4/26/2024 | FROSTY FRIDAYS PUBLIC SKATING SESSIONS -- It’s great to skate indoors at the coolest place in town, no matter what the weather is like outdoors! Gather family or friends for some Friday night fun and healthy exercise at Rockford Park District's Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park, IL. Frosty Fridays discounted indoor public ice skating sessions are scheduled every Friday from September 29, 2023 through April 26, 2024, from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Admission is $10.00 per person (all ages) including skate rental; no discount coupons accepted. The events also feature music by a DJ, and concession food specials for purchase. Frosty Fridays are among the many family friendly events offered for the community by the Rockford Park District. | 5/1/2024 | The Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Rock Valley College is excited to be partnering with the Rockford Community Investment Fund (RCIF) to bring local small business owners and entrepreneurs this informative workshop! In partnering together, the Illinois SBDC at Rock Valley College and RCIF demonstrate their commitment to offering comprehensive guidance and support to small businesses and entrepreneurs in our community. RCIF provides financing to small businesses who rehabilitate homes in the City of Rockford, especially in its low and moderate income neighborhoods. While providing a platform for learning and networking, this workshop aims to educate current and prospective borrowers about the intricacies of RCIF's loan program, ensuring that RCIF's borrowers are well informed about the responsibilities and opportunities associated with its loan program, in addition to providing current and prospective borrowers with guidance on finding and assessing properties, financial management strategies, etc. This workshop will feature industry experts, including a local realtor from Dickerson & Nieman Realtors and banker from Northwest Bank.
