“Our family’s top priority is to transition the business to a new owner who will help preserve the ‘quality of place’ that our community has grown to enjoy at the Dairy Depot,” said Dairy Depot Owner Diane Elliott. “As lifelong residents in The Parks, John and I worked hard to make a difference in the lives of our family, friends, and customers. Out of all of John’s accomplishments, owning the Dairy Depot was truly the most fulfilling and rewarding for him. For that reason, our family is dedicated to ensuring that his legacy lives on at Dairy Depot for future generations to come.”

The Dairy Depot was established in 1984, and John and Diane Elliott have owned the business and the building since 2000. After John unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack in June of 2018, John and Diane’s daughter, Tonya Lamia, has been working diligently to ensure ongoing operations of the seasonal soft serve ice cream parlor while also leading neighborhood engagement and beautification efforts in his honor.

“Thanks to overwhelming support from the community, our family was inspired to make investments and lead initiatives that would have a long-term, positive impact in the region,” said Tonya Lamia, daughter of John and Diane Elliott. “Knowing how much John loved creating a special place for families and friends to gather in the summertime, there’s no better way to honor his legacy.”

“After talking with several real estate brokers and restaurant owners over the past two years, my mom and I feel that a prospective buyer should be prepared to both own and operate the Dairy Depot, and they have a great opportunity to explore year-round operations with indoor seating,” said Lamia. “We also feel that a prospective buyer should own both the business and the building, as the business pays annual rent for two of the five commercial spaces in the building.”

Dairy Depot is a seasonal soft service ice cream parlor that is open Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM daily. Dairy Depot occupies two spaces at the building (5413 and 5415 N. 2nd Street in Loves Park, Illinois). The 5413 space is where staff operates the business and serves customers through two walk-up windows.
