DECEMBER UPDATES FROM THE PARKS CHAMBER Dear Members,
Thank you for your support as we've worked over the past several months to strengthen the foundation of The Parks Chamber. Earlier this year, our Board of Directors engaged in strategic planning initiatives to better define the chamber’s purpose. Together, our immediate focus has been on producing world-class Signature Events and implementing new technology tools.
EVENTS: In August, we hosted a sold out Golf Outing with 126 golfers, 38 golf hole sponsors, 13 activity golf holes, and nearly $5,000 in raffle prizes. The outing also featured a celebrity guest appearance by Chicago Blackhawks player and Stanley Cup winner Brian Campbell. In October, we hosted our Annual Meeting & Dinner, where we more than doubled attendance from last year, presented the new Arthur W. Anderson Community Service Award, and showcased member products and services in addition to the chamber's new technology tools. Since May of this year, The Parks Chamber also hosted 12 Ribbon-Cutting Ceremonies and welcomed 38 new members.
TECHNOLOGY: Another important priority for 2019 has been to cleanup member data and implement tools to automate our workflow and better serve you and all of our members. If you think about it, chambers of commerce started as brick-and-mortar lobbies, where residents and visitors could research - in person or by phone - information about local businesses. In today’s digital economy, The Parks Chamber needs to offer innovative, digital resources to help members promote products and services online. Our new website and comprehensive Member Management System are now live, and members are beginning to benefit from these new, state-of-the-art resources.
The Parks Chamber was formed in 1989 to serve the Loves Park and Machesney Park communities. Today, we welcome the participation of businesses and organizations from throughout the greater region. If you're not a member, we invite you join us today. We also hope to see you at our Holiday Happy Hour on December 18.
Wishing you a prosperous and wonderful holiday season!
Sincerely, Tonya Lamia Executive Director
